Hangar Flying / Ventilation Inlet Location

My builder put an inlet under the strake and tight to the fuselage.  The inlet shape is just a slot and grabs no air.  I'd planned on replacing it with a small NACA inlet but wondered if that area isn't good for an inlet due to air flow??  The plenum it feeds is inside the strake with a nice eyeball outlet so I was hoping to salvage that structure.

New parts include-

ECI cylinders, main bearings, rod bearings, pistons, rings and more...

This was a new engine on a 172 (I think) in 1974. It has complete logs since new. It has been most recently been used on an RV-4 with a warneke wood prop.

The engine was supposed to go back on the RV-4 but illness has stopped the rebuild project.

This engine can NOT go onto a certified airplane because the AD for pitting of the hollow crank has NOT been complied with.

Also, the rebuild of apliances has not been finished. The engine has not been test run and was put together as per the Lycoming spec with rebuild oil. This is the goo that sticks to stuff to protect it during assembly.

The mags, carb, fuel pump, starter and alternator are included.

I have all the paperwork for he engine and can direct serious inquiries to the A&P.

On the way up the San Joaquin Valley Saturday, 5/30 we flew over a canard heading up toward the mountains over Lodi at about 5,000' around 5 PM.  None of us NorCal folks know who it was.......

I recently had my prop balanced by Craig and then the "drivetrain" by Jeremy.  The prop and spinning parts are excellent without any adjustments but I have a big spike that indicates something touching.  Can't find anything....
Can and do engine mounts 'go bad' after time?  The airframe has had an engine mounted for 13 years now.  I found the bolts at the dynafocal loose recently and tightened them up without removing the weight and was told that was incorrect.  So I did it again and had the weight supported by a hoist while tightening to torque.  Small improvement in vibration but not all.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm having issues with my calipers not releasing enought to stop a constant drag and wondered if others have had the problem.  My A&P mentioned that others have found problems with the mounting plate not mating up properly with the axel on a Long EZ.  Having just completely removed, cleaned and replaced my brakes I find they still drag on the rotor quite a bit.  Have cleaned and greased the slides and replaced the O-rings and the master cylinders are only a year old and I'm still stumped.  Can anyone help...?

I purchased this engine to replace my O-320. Am sticking with the smaller engine. It was removed from an aircraft at 40.2 hours and has been properly stored for 2 years. My A&P pulled a jug yesterday and confirms it is clean and shiny throughout with no corrosion. Will leave this cylinder off for a couple weeks for anyone to inspect. The A&P will reinstall and make the appropriate entries in the logbook.
9:1 pistons, Sky-Tec starter, dual Slick mags, alternator and stock carb included.  Has a 110v sump heater attached.
Not as pretty as those with nice paint jobs and chrome trim hence the reduced price of $15,000 plus shipping from northern California. Will send pictures to any interested parties.

Does anyone know how to adjust the travel or stops on an electric speedbrake?  Mine has never closed completely, which affects cooling and turning the drive shaft doesn't change the length as I had hoped....

Remounted the top bracket and now works great!

I had been under the impression that the designator for a Long EZ was LGEZ and have used that with ATC for a couple years.  I just looked up aircraft designators for experimental aircraft and they only have 3, based on cruise speeds.  Anyone know which is correct?   ???

Is there any hope of camping without being too far off the pavement?  Small tires and tight wheel pants means no soft grass taxiing for me.  I understand they say to have a sign to show the ground help saying "pavement only' but then I'm camping with the plane.  What have you folks done?

6"x6"x6" Sabre extension with 6"x3/8" crush plate and 3/8" Sabre prop bolts.  SAE #2.  I upgraded props and went to a 7" face extension with a 7" crush plate and 7/16" bolts.

In Terry Yake's Non-Builder Guide there used to be a paragraph 3.1.2.B on gear leg fairings.  It is no longer in the document.  I printed it out back when so have the writing but was hoping to find a link that was embedded with sketches of the process.  Any ideas?   :(
